Samson CO3U USB Multi-Pattern Studio Condenser Microphone
When I started in the VO business, all I had was my Mac with Garage Band, a small closet with a lot of blankets hanging from the walls, and a voice that people seem to like. So I just needed a decent and affordable USB Microphone to put everything together... and the Samson CO3U was the winner! It just connects to your Mac via USB and does not require phantom power or audio interfaces. I just had to plug it in and hit record. Decent sound, with some flaws, like lack of crisp sound, but at a good price and perfect for a beginner. Price $160
Studio Projects C3
With "ALL" the money I made with my first mic, I was able to buy an audio interface and so I needed a better Microphone. A real one, phantom powered, that would make me sound like a Pro. Well, after extensive research and tryouts, I found the Studio Projects C3, large diaphragm condenser mic, and to my surprise, it had excellent reviews, an incredible sound quality, and the best of all...a good price.
The beauty of the Studio Projects C3 is in the fact that it is capable of achieving results which are typically entrusted only to very large price tags microphones. The reason is the manufacturing process and the components used to build the mic. It is very solid, well built and it delivers a very nice and crisp sound to your voice. Is it as good as the big expensive German mics... well... ¡Almost! Price $350
Microtech Gefell M930 (Neumann's brother)
And finally I found my true German love... the Microtech Gefell M930.
After using one at a session at a recording studio, I immediately fell in love with this little gem. I had to buy it, no matter what!
The Gefell is a compact, Cardioid large diaphragm microphone that combines the latest Gefell M9 gold evaporated capsule with an optically isolated capsule amplifier for low self-noise, excellent dynamic handling and the added benefit of greater placement ease. And the best of all... is that it fitted my voice perfectly. It delivers one of the most awesome sounds you'll ever hear in a state of the art microphone. In a few words... It is as good as the big expensive German mics...
Yes it is, because it's German and it's worth it! Price $1500.
I hope these reviews help in any way.
Gracias,
