A professional voice took our DVD trailer to another level

Ever wondered how someone in need of a narrator to sell their educational product goes about finding a voice talent to record their script in the style of a movie trailer?
Ted Sokolowski of Sokolowski Studios LLC agreed to answer a few questions about their experience at Voices.com and how they've used the service to find, select and hire talent.
Recently Ted completed a project at Voices.com and hired voice over talent Terry Daniel.

How has Voices.com helped you with your project needs?
Our instructional DVD, The Heating with Wood DVD Set, needed a professional voice to help "sell" the DVD in the trailer. This trailer is a very important tool and we have used it both on our website as well as at a major trade show.
The voice over talent we chose was the "voice of authority" we needed to help keep the viewer interested and convince them that they needed this DVD.
Voices.com was an excellent resource. We went to another voice over house before Voices.com, and were quoted twice the price. We saved a good deal over the other resource, and are very happy.
How did you use Voices.com?
We found Voices.com on the internet, and sampled some voices before we posted the job.
Did you use the Featured Talent Directory or browse the talent search engine?
We browsed and found 2 voices we liked, then posted the job so that all talent could respond.
Did you receive enough responses to your posting or would you have liked to see fewer or more?
Yes, plenty of response. It's nice to have an assortment of talent to choose from. You can really get a flavor of how subtle voice differences can change the color of your project.
How did you select the talent?
We selected the talent first based on his voice. We wanted a friendly, authoritative read. Terry Daniel's experience and wide range of V.O work was also part of our decision. Lastly, his price was in line with our budget.
What challenges did you face using the Voices.com system to find talent? Were you on a tight deadline when you came to Voices.com to search for talent?
We were seeking a male, deep, authoritative yet approachable voice. Professional sound recording equipment and knowledge of technology (e.g. file formats and accepting large sample video files.) We also needed the talent to provide a moderately quick turnaround in mp3 format.
Our deadline was 3 days. We had our VO in 2 and Terry seemed to work late into the night with our project and that included the weekend.
Did you have any difficulty using the system to find talent, review responses, make your deposit via SurePay, receiving the finished work?
We experienced only one problem. We didn't realize you can upload a sample text of the job so we received many generic reads. After we awarded the job we discovered we had 50 or more responses. We are still happy with our choice, but Terry Daniel was one of the first to respond, and that had something to do with our decision.
Was the talent you hired of professional grade?
Yes. Terry's resume was outstanding and we felt comfortable hiring him for the job after speaking with him over the phone.
How would you describe your overall experience with the site?
We were in a jam when we realized we really needed a Pro. Trying to find talent locally would not have worked based on the deadline we were on. Doing a Google search brought up many possibilities but voices.com seemed to have the most talent in many different price ranges.
Our talent was extremely professional and really went the extra mile to satisfy.
Will you use Voices.com again in the future to hire the same talent or hire a different talent?
Yes! With a better understanding of how to submit projects, voices.com will be a great resource for future projects.
Have you or will you recommend Voices.com to business contacts that may be in need of voice over services in the future?
With the ease of use of your website, talent availability and professionalism, recommending Voices.com will be easy
