Our Best Project Yet!

Beth Sowell of Episode XI Studios agreed to answer a few questions about her experience at Voices.com and how she and her company have used the service to find, select and hire talent.

Recently Beth completed a project at Voices.com and hired Rowell Gormon. Read more on Episode XI's hiring experience.

How has Voices.com helped you with your project needs?

Your system is very user friendly and this particular job has some odd specifications. We knew there wouldn't be a problem!

Once the client had decided what sort of voice they wanted for their video project, we posted a job with voices.com.

Did you use the Featured Talent Directory or browse the talent search engine?
No, we used to browse the lists of many talents you have, but now we just go ahead and post the jobs. We find that it's easier to get a feel for what our project will sound like if we get the customized auditions instead of listening to a talent's previous voiceovers.

How did you select the talent?

We mentioned our specifications when we posted the job, and got many auditions to choose from. We narrowed the options down to 5 and the customer chose the one that most fit the idea they had for the project.

Was the talent of professional grade?

Absolutely! Rowell was amazing, he did a perfect voiceover in the first send, despite the fact that we wanted an accent and a slow pace and all sorts of different specs. It was the first time EVER for us. We usually have a correction or two, but he did it perfectly the very first time.

Did you receive enough responses to your posting or would you have liked to see fewer or more?

No we had plenty of great options.

What challenges did you face using the Voices.com system to find talent?

We had a tough role to fill this time. The client wanted an older male with an educated, "lightly" southern accent. We needed it to be done within a few days, which has never been a problem for us when we use Voices.com.

Did you have any difficulty using the system to find talent, review responses, make your deposit via SurePay, receiving the finished work?

None at all, it's very easy.

Were you on a tight deadline when you came to Voices.com to search for talent?

I think once we selected the talent, we needed the finished voiceover within two days.

How would you describe your overall experience with the site?

I would say we always have great luck with voices.com and this project was no exception. At this point we use voices.com exclusively to hire voiceover talent. I enjoyed working with Rowell Gorman so much that we will definitely use him again in the future for any projects that suit his voice!
