Tips on Finding Agency Representation
Ever wondered what you can do to find an agent?
This has got to be one of the most popular questions that is asked of us by voice talent, both new and established.
The question is "How do I find an agent?"
Well, the answer to that question has remained a bit of an enigma - that is, until today.
Patty Lerma asked the Voice Cat a question that has unlocked the secrets of how to go about finding an agent, communicating with agencies, and what to look for in an agent.

I didn't start looking for a voice-over talent agent until my 7th year in the biz!
Maybe that's WHY I got lucky and had some success.
First, I had much more experience than when I first started out, I was a much better vo talent, and I was on my 3rd or 4th compilation demo by then, so the demo sparkled.
Within a month or two after submitting my demo to selected talent agencies, I landed my first agency representation in Atlanta, and Milwaukee the same month.
I do know with some of the agencies it took 2, sometimes 3 demo submissions before they signed me on, or came to the phone!
Persistence, lots of patience, and experience really pays off.
Is it crucial to have an agent, NO....does it HELP to take your career to the next level, YES!
Do not be in a big hurry to get an agent, especially your first year or two in the biz.
