It's about time someone recognized voice actors exclusively! We're excited to announce that nominations for the 1st Annual Voicey Awards are now officially open.

Voicey AwardsThe Voices.com Voicey Awards are now open for nominations!

Who is Voices.com?

Voices.com is the #1 Voice Marketplace, connecting professional voice over talents with people who require the services of voice talent and voice actors to complete their projects, including commercials for radio and television, promos, movie trailers, audio book narration, podcasts, videos, animation, videogames, telephone recordings and more.

What are the Voicey Awards?

The Voicey Awards recognize voice actors and voice talents for their contributions and efforts over the year in the voice over industry.

Categories include Best Male Voice, Best Female Voice, Best New Voice, Best Personal Branding, and a Lifetime Achievement Award.

One simple rule: to be nominated, a voice talent must be registered with Voices.com.

How do I nominate someone?

Nominating a voice talent is easy. Simply print off the PDF nomination form, enter in the necessary information and fax the nomination form to Voices.com for consideration. There is no limit to the number of voice talents you may nominate, however, the nominee must be a member of Voices.com to qualify.

Sounds great, but what do the winners get?

The first of its kind, people who win these awards will be provided with the following: A 1-year Premium Subscription from Voices.com, a press release announcing their award, and a special badge displayed on their Voices.com website letting people know about their Voicey award.

Okay, let’s recap:

To nominate a voice talent for any of these categories, download our PDF nomination form, print it off, fill it out and fax it to our office. The deadline for nominations is St. Valentine's Day - February 14th, 2007.

You can nominate multiple voice talents, just be sure to submit a separate nomination form for each of them so that we can keep track of each individual nomination.

So, what are you waiting for? Nominate your favorite voice talent for a Voicey Award at Voices.com!

Cheers,

Stephanie

Now please remind me just what is a "fax" machine. I know some folks that might like to nominate someone but have no access to or have thrown their fax machines away....why not an email form???

    Just my thoughts.

      Hi Bryan,

Good question. There is a means to submit via email listed on the form, however, the preferred method of receiving the nominations is by fax.

I'm not completely sure of this, but I think there is the capability for someone to actually fax in their form via their computer. If anyone can confirm that and mention how it is done, please leave a comment.

      Thank you,

      Stephanie

On a Mac with OSX, plug your modem into the phone line, add the number to your address book, and then click "PRINT." On the print menu, you will see a "Fax" option, built into the OS!

I am not sure if Windows has a similar feature, but there is plenty of freeware that will get the job done. Do a google search.

          Thanks Bill :)

We've just received our first email nomination a minute ago with all of the info filled out nicely on the form.

          This is very exciting!

How about Best Foreign Voiceover talent?
            Can we still get nominations?

How are the winners selected? Is it the quantity of nominations? Or is it judged? Will employers be asked to nominate?

              Seems like fun though.

Email is my preferred method. Remember the folks based overseas who want to vote, but find the cost of international faxing/calling restrictive :)

OK. The concept of the award is fine.

But the name of the award is...well, not.

                  Voicey?

You guys secured one of the best domains in all the industry, have a great interactive site but the best NAME for the award you could come up with was a voicey?

Maybe a little perspective is in order. A "Tony" was renamed from the Antoinette Perry Award for Excellence in Theatre. The Grammy was name after the Gramaphone...which is the industry/organization's symbol. As for the Oscars, the most popular story is that Margaret Herrick, an Academy employee and eventual executive director, remarked that the statuette resembled her Uncle Oscar, and the Academy staff began to refer to it by that name.

The Voicey doesn't really sound like an award that folks are going to "boast" about.

How about something simple like the VOICE Award representing Voice Over Influence, Creative and Excellence. You can have a variety of categories with that. Now, I'll let you use my idea for the award, but we'll have to discuss acceptable terms :)

                    Hi Julie-Ann,

The nominations will be juried by 3 industry judges. The judges will be announced in the near term.

Clients are invited to nominate voice talents they have worked with as well.

                    Thank you for your questions,

                    Stephanie

                      Hi Alondra,

Thank you for your comment and question.

This year, we're starting small with only 5 categories, but in coming years, we will be adding more specialized niche categories for awards as well.

Foreign talent can still be nominated for a Voicey this year - don't let anything hold you back!

                      Best,

                      Stephanie

                        Hi Peter,

Thank you for your comments and suggestions.

The response we've had so far to the Voiceys has been wonderful with several dozen nominations coming in thus far.

As you mentioned, the Tony and Oscar awards grew into those names (i.e. the Antoinette Perry Award for Excellence in Theatre shortened to Tony).

If in the future there is an opportunity to change the name to something else once the awards have become more established and globally known, we will evaluate it at that time.

                        Thanks for your idea Peter,

                        Stephanie

Hi Stephanie, the awards are a very good thing, now, down to business. I would like to do the voice overs announcing the winners of the voice over awards. Unless I win one of course, which I believe I am worthy to do so.
