VOICE 2007 : What Was Your Favorite Moment?

Palace Station Hotel, Las VegasHave a special memory of VOICE 2007?

Share it with everyone as a comment on the blog!

It's now officially one week since VOICE 2007 came to a close in Las Vegas, NV.

There were many wonderful events and speakers present, but what I'd like to know is what left a mark on you personally?

Maybe it someone (or the people) you met, insight from a lecture, participating in an activity, or perhaps renewed enthusiasm for your career.

Share your favorite moment or memory of VOICE 2007 by leaving a comment on this post.

Looking forward to hearing from you,

Stephanie

P.S. I'll be posting more on the lectures this coming week. Until my next post, happy holidays for those celebrating :)

Stephanie,

My favorite part of VOICE 2007 was making all the personal connections, face-to-face, with so many people I've only known on-line. (Including you, Laurynda and Carol!)

My favorite moment from all of the presentations was a line Pat Fraley offered when talking about ways to stand out when auditioning.

"There's always someone better than you. To get the job you don't have to be the best, just different and really good."

Be well,
Bob

As a relative newcomer to the voiceover biz, I appreciated all the encouragement I got when meeting those of you who have been doing this for a while.

I learned from MJ Lallo how, with just a slight change in posture, a new character would emerge from my mouth! I loved DB Cooper's contagious enthusiasm for video games. And of course, I was thrilled to be one of Voices.com's iPod Shuffle winners!

All in all, a great time. Thanks to everyone who participated!

For me it was definitely Pat Fraley for the presenters. I took 3 full pages of notes.

BUT...Then there was Don LaFontaine, Bob Bergen, MJ Lallo... Then there were so many wonderful people I met, including the staff at Voices.com.

Frank, James and Penny hatched this thing, and I must say, it really was a fabulous success.

I couldn't quantify it all into one moment, there were so many favorite moments!

Can't wait 'til next year.

Thanks for listening.

VOICE 2007 was fantastic. I enjoyed it all -- particularly meeting so many fine people. I can't get over what a wonderful and supportive VO community we have. I am looking forward to VOICE 2008 - code word "Bunny Slippers". Frank, James and Penny have us all guessing. It was a real pleasure meeting Stephanie and the gang from Voices.com too.

Best moment?

Meeting the guy at the top of VO heap, Don LaFontaine. And the bonus in seeing how funny, insightful and self-effacing he is. I appreciated what I sensed to be a real generosity towards all of us there.

Also, how encouraging to everyone to hear from two of the key organizers, Penny and James, that they have only been full-time in VO's for 10 years or so, and Penny from a completely unrelated field.

When people ask me if I think they are crazy to want to get into VO work ... I say:

"Working from a home or portable studio, not having to worry about what you wear or look like, doing all kinds of voices and having fun everyday? You're crazy NOT to want to get into VoiceOvers!"

OK, it's not a piece of cake, but well worth the pursuit, and that became all the more clear by meeting everyone who attended VOICE 2007.

What a terrific gang!
