œVoice Talkers : Living the Dream of a Voice Actor was produced by P0YKPAC for the final round of YouTube™s Sketchies II sketch comedy video contest. Voting begins on April 9th.

Voice Talkers

While the title "Voice Talkers" is somewhat of an inside joke in the voice acting community (as well as "Sacks of Money" - thanks to the VO-BB), the term voice talker seems to be catching on in this YouTube Sketchies II contest video.

The Voice Talkers cast includes:

Grover - Taige Jensen
Dad - Dave Foxx
Carol - Jenn Lyon
Brother - Maggie Ross
Producer - Ryan Hall
Engineer - Ryan Hunter

As part of the contest, videos must incorporate the theme "living the dream" and use the term "indubitably". The winner gets $25,000 cash, $15,000 in production gear and a chance to meet with UTA online agents.

Voting starts on April 9, 2008.

I thought we could all do with a little humor today and I'd love to know what you think of this video!

What do you think of this video? Have a favorite part? Leave a comment ;)

Thank you for posting this very funny video. I especially enjoyed seeing Dave Foxx in such a different sort of setting.

    Be well,

Very funny indeed. Could have been a wee bit more lip sync, but that probably is part of the reason why it was so much fun to watch.

& I agree with Bob, seeing Dave Foxx in this was a scream!

              Hi Stephanie...

I enjoyed the video. A laugh in the morning is a great way to start your day. I really like the "Dad" LaFontaine character! I'm wondering though if it will be as a funny to people who are not part of this industry. I guess what I mean is it's funny to us because we understand what happens in voiceover every day. I suppose though that the every day person who hears and sees commercials and movie trailers all the time would find it amusing for different reasons. Just my two cents. Have a great day!

                  Hi Steph,

It's as if someone put a camera in my house.

                  Hope you're doing well,

I'm in touch with the producer and he is absolutely thrilled by the responses received from you guys so far. They have the link to this post and will be reading your comments throughout the week.

P.S. Dan, that's funny! I'm sure there are a few others who can relate to that ;)

That was fantastic!! Put a nice cheery smile on my face and a laugh in my voice. I answer phones for a temporary living - I can't wait to "Live THE Dream"....

From a reformed video producer/writer turned full-time VO Pro - well done! And Dan - you are so right about what "goes on" in our homes! The funniest is my non-VO S.O. continually trying out a British accent. He does great with the promo announcer parody, but the accents escape him!

Anyone who does voice over will have to love this. There are plenty of us out there these days. I was laughing out loud at some of the jokes. My favorite moment was in the studio and the roll of enhanced laughter of the producer/director. Many of us have lived through what we call voiceover purgatory because you couldn't hear what was being said on the other side of the glass! A perfect parody of life as a vo!

                            Thanks for listening!

This video is funny enough on its own...but being in the VO biz makes it THAT much MORE funny! Brilliant job to all involved in this project...you guys ROCK!

Weird seeing the faces that go with familiar voices....like watching 'Simpsons' live studio recording!
                                  More please!
