Who's That Voice?

Real Canadian Super Store

Ever hear a voice over and think to yourself "Who's that?"

For someone who listens to voice overs day in day out (on purpose) and pays special attention to subtle elements of the art form, that question often pops into my head.

Sometimes I know who it is, and when I do, I smile to myself with great satisfaction. Other times, I'm left pondering "Who's that voice?".

Does that happen to you?

Voice overs are everywhere, that's for sure!

Last night, I made a run out to one of our local grocery stores to pick up a few things and decided for the first time ever that I would try one of those "self-checkout" aisles, and you guessed it, it talked.

I wondered to myself "Who's that voice?"

The people behind me, who were obviously well-versed in the act of self-checkout, were likely a little miffed that I took so long (the pressure was on, believe me!).

Thankfully, that's not the focus of this article :)

Real Canadian Superstore Self-Checkout Voice Over

A female voice greeted me and guided me along. She directed me to scan each item, put the items into bags, and basically prompted each step along the way. I felt more at ease than if it were simply a computer screen. The lady's voice was very professional and I wouldn't be surprised if the voice actor has a listing on Voices.com.

So, if you're the North American (possibly Canadian) female voice actor who did the voice over for the self-checkout at the Real Canadian Superstore (parent company is Loblaw Companies Limited), please be sure to comment so that I can thank you personally!

Who's That Voice?

I also want to give you the opportunity to chime in with voices you recognize. This will create a wonderful way to find out who voices what through community collaboration. Genius!

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Best wishes,

Stephanie

P.S. I wanted to especially send a shout out to my friend Bobbin Beam who referred Burt's Bees to me. The beeswax lip balm with pomegranate oil was one of my purchases, ieri sera. Grazie ;)

I often try to figure out who it is I'm hearing. I'm still trying to find out who the voice of the "e-Trade baby" is!!

I recently went looking for the narrator voice of a show called Maximum Exposure, as I began hearing his voice in other places as well. I finally found out it is Buzz Brainard. I ended up being granted the opportunity to interview him for my blog a couple of months ago... it can be read here:

Fun stuff!

Hi Stephanie,

Thanks for the shout out! I fanatically keep at least one full tube of Burt's Bees lip balm at my studio workstation at all times as it comes into use constantly.

On the topic at hand, my husband always laughs because I listen attentively to any and all voiceover work I hear. Often times I recognize my friends and associates, and without launching a list of gigs, (I don't like to brag or bore) sometimes, like LA Times and Tribune Companies it's me!

Yeah, I'm dying to know who is doing the Etrade Baby voiceovers, too. If anyone knows or finds out, please pass it along. Thanks.
