The Don LaFontaine Voice-Over Lab Opens

Don LaFontaine LabLocated at the SAG Foundation Actors Center in Los Angeles, the Don LaFontaine Voice-Over Lab's fully-equipped sound studio allows actors to work on voice-over craft, demos and auditions while classroom space is set to host workshops, seminars and demonstrations led by experts in the field.

Don's personal engineer, George Whittam, oversaw the design and execution of the Lab and Don's wife Nita Whitaker LaFontaine fully endorsed the project.

The Lab Opened on Friday June 25th, 2010!

Voices.com is really excited to help spread awareness about the Don LaFontaine Voice-Over Lab!

According to the SAG Foundation, the Lab will help the voice-over community thrive in new ways. The Lab features a prominent donor wall displaying all of the organizations and individuals who assisted in making this project a success.

The names of donors who gave over $5,000 are placed on the donor wall.

Ongoing contributions to the Don LaFontaine Voice-Over Lab will work toward ensuring that the lab becomes self-sustaining and available to voice over talent for generations to come.

Last year I went to a fund raiser for the Don LaFontaine Voice-Over Lab at Joe Cipriano's home and all of this was a dream waiting to come true. Tribute is now being paid to "The Voice" and his spirit of excellence, generosity and encouragement.

  • Having been to the Lab, having met its Administrator, Michael Woodley, I know the Lab is going to make a difference, primarily for LA-based SAG voice talents (given its location).

But non union talents can use the lab too for a small fee. If you are in the area, I'd call Michael and set up an appointment to stop by. He's a super nice guy.

Congrats to George, Paul, Joe and all the LaFontaines on this terrific opening.

    Best always,
    - Peter
