Joe CiprianoPromaxBDA and Brief Magazine are proud to present the 2nd Annual Don LaFontaine Legacy Award to Joe Cipriano.

Created collectively by PromaxBDA, Rudy Gaskins and Anita LaFontaine to honor the name, memory and defining legacy of one of the world's most famous voices, the Don LaFontaine Legacy Award recognizes a voice of impact as determined by a specialized industry committee.

Through the criteria filter of character, longevity, talent, professionalism and the passion for giving back, this year's recipient embodies much of Don's defining legacy.

The award will be presented to Joe on June 24, 2010.

Congrats, Joe!

When I heard that our good friend Joe Cipriano won the Don LaFontaine Legacy Award this year, I nearly jumped out of my chair with joy! One of my producer friends, Rudy Gaskins of Push Creative (who is married to the beautiful and talented Joan Baker), was moved by Don's spirit and played an instrumental role in bringing this all about. During a period of time when all of us were wondering how best to honour Don, Rudy pitched Promax the idea for an award honouring Don and adding a voice over category last year.

Isn't it fitting that now the very award championed by someone whose heart is so close to voice talent is being given to a voice talent whose heart was so close to Don's?

I'm pleased to share the following about Joe on behalf of PromaxBDA.

Joe Cipriano has worked on the air for the NBC, ABC, FOX and CBS Television and Radio networks, and has been the live announcer at high profile events including the Grammy Awards and the Primetime Emmy Awards. Cipriano has more than 20 years of voice talent experience.

He is the co-founder of the newly launched Don LaFontaine Voice-Over Lab at the SAG Foundation Actors Center. The Lab and all of its programs, dedicated to educating and inspiring young up and coming voice over talent, will be offered free to the public.

Don LaFontaine, whose immediately recognizable voice was featured on more than 5000 promos and trailers over a period of more than 30 years, passed away September 1, 2008. Cipriano will accept the Award at the 2010 PromaxBDA Promotions and Marketing Awards scheduled for the final night of the three day PromaxBDA Conference.

The Don LaFontaine Legacy Award was introduced for the first time at the 2009 Promax Marketing & Promotion Awards celebration as part of the 54th annual PromaxBDA Conference. The PromaxBDA Awards competition is dedicated to celebrating excellence in marketing, design and creative content in the entertainment industry.

Joe, We Salute You!

If you have any words of congratulations or thoughts you would like to share, feel free to comment here on VOX Daily.

Looking forward to hearing from you!

Best wishes,

Stephanie
