Toopy and Binoo came to London, ON Canada today and I happened to be in attendance at the live event.
As we journey through National Voice Over Appreciation Month, I thought it would be neat to take another look at how voice over is consumed through live events that promote animated characters and bring them to life for their fans.
Learn more about these kind of events and how you can attend one too in today's VOX Daily.
If you're a fan of Toopy and Binoo, you may already know about the tours put on by a company called Kidomo, the premier producer of marketing and event services in Canada. Kidomo exclusively represents Barney, Bob the Builder, The Big Comfy Couch, Thomas and friends, Angelina Ballerina, Fifi & the Flowertots, Toopy & Binoo and Sesame Street.
Before coming to the show, I wasn't sure what to expect but boy, was I ever impressed! Toopy spoke just as he speaks in the cartoon and Binoo was silent as usual, expressing himself loudly and clearly through gestures.
The voice over recording played on as the characters acted out a few numbers. Toopy's voice was clear as a bell and everything went off without a hitch. I'm sure the sound guys were pleased!
I've been to other character 'appearances' and would say that this one was hands down the best. Aside from the show being well choreographed and fabulous interaction with the audience, you could actually hear the character's voice unlike other publicity events I've attended.
If you are in Canada, Kidomo has produced all of the Treehouse Live productions since 2000. There is a PDF download of Toopy and Binoo's Fall 2010 Appearance Dates and Locations on their website.

Another way to find out about these kind of appearances is to read your local newspaper or community publication. How did I find out about this? I was referred to an advertisement in The Londoner.
Looking forward to hearing from you!
Best wishes,
Stephanie
