Young daughter with her daddy with a blue sky in the backgroundFather's Day is celebrated by different cultures everywhere.

In Canada, the US, Japan, India, Africa, the United Kingdom and many other countries across the globe Father's Day is celebrated on the 3rd Sunday in June.

Today's Vox Daily pays special tribute to all the Dads who have helped shape our lives and cultures.

Celebrating Dads

Last Sunday marked that special time of year when many countries honour Dads. Fathers are often wrongly depicted in the media as silly, angry, dumb or dead-beat which is a huge misrepresentation of most fathers out there who work hard and give their children love, guidance, and strength.

Nearly every culture across the globe has ways of celebrating their fathers and thanking them for all they do. Each culture shows tribute to their fathers in different ways and at different times of the year but in the end we are all honouring the men who helped raise us and play an important role in society as a whole.

At schools from the UK and Ireland, to Australia and South Africa it is not uncommon for communities to organize large scale parties to celebrate Dads and emphasize the important role they have.

Father's Day is a new concept in India and has only been celebrated for a decade. In the US and Canada Father's Day is a good time for family reunions and to let him know the difference he's made often with simple gifts and dinners made especially for him. From Afghanistan to Zimbabwe fathers have a special day to recognize all that they do for us.

We've received many jobs in recent months of people wanting to honour their loved ones in special ways with professional voiceover services.

It made me wonder, have you ever given your Dad a special voiceover tribute?

We'd love to hear about! Please share your story's below.

Best wishes and Happy Father's Day!

    Hi Lin,

Wow, what a wonderful tribute to fathers. It was one of the best I've read for a long time. This piece was so well written and carried with it the message of love your father gave you.

Your point of fathers (and we can add men in general) being vilified or being accorded less respect than they deserve, was also very well expressed.

Thank you, as a father, for this excellent, thoughtful addition to Vox Daily.

    Most respectfully,
    John Sipple

      You're welcome, John.

Thank you for your comments. I'm glad that you enjoyed the article. It was indeed my own Father I was thinking of when I wrote it. I hope you had a wonderful Fathers Day!

      All the best,
      Lin
