Culture DaysWhat are you doing this weekend?

Voices.com is inviting the public to step up to the mic in our hometown!

Londoners can try being a voice actor for a day at the Stoney Creek Branch Library on October 1st as part of the 2011 Culture Days in London, ON.

Is That My Voice?

Voices.com will provide Londoners with an opportunity to record from a script and hear what they sound like during Culture Days at Stoney Creek Branch Library.

Tomorrow morning (or today if you're reading this in your email), I will be lending an ear or two to aspiring voice talent as they participate Voices.com's educational program, "Is That My Voice?" during Culture Days.

Culture Days is a collaborative pan-Canadian volunteer movement to raise the awareness, accessibility, participation and engagement of all Canadians in the arts and cultural life of their communities.

The feature presentation "Is That My Voice?" will take place at the Stoney Creek Branch Library between 10 a.m. and 12 p.m. on Saturday October 1st.

When I first heard about the opportunity to apply for consideration, I jumped at it! Culture Days is a good opportunity to share how others can get involved in voice acting and also a unique way to introduce them to their individual voice print as no two voices are the same.

Those in attendance will have the opportunity to test-drive what it's like to be a voice actor by participating in a live recording of their voice using family friendly scripts. Stoney Creek Branch Library patrons will get to hear a playback of what they sound like and receive some performance tips. A listing of local coaching resources will be available upon request should anyone wish to explore the fascinating world of voice overs even further.

It's rare that people get a chance to step up to the microphone, read from a script and hear what they sound like. While it may appear to be a basic exercise, the experience itself is unlike any other and makes a definite impression on those who participate.

The Details

The "Is That My Voice?" exhibit will run from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on October 1st, 2011 at Stoney Creek Branch Library located at 920 Sunningdale Road East in London, ON Canada.

I hope to see you there!

Best wishes,

Stephanie
