It was really great to hear your thoughts and learn more about how we can build the best Android app for voice actors auditioning everywhere.
Find out who won in today's VOX Daily!
January 18th was quite the day. We launched our first Android app, celebrated with a press conference, a gigantic Android cake and invited you all to participate in an exciting contest around the app for a chance to win a 1-year Premium annual membership to Voices.com!
The winner of the contest is Jason Culver. Jason was one of the most avid and meticulous reviewers, presenting us with a bunch of useful feedback, detailed experiences and a dose of encouragement. He updated his review each time we released a new version of the app or made improvements to our existing versions.
Who knew there were so many delicacies in the Android family to cater to! From Jelly Bean to Ice Cream Sandwich, to Honeycomb and Gingerbread (almost ready!), the adventures never cease.
Here is the latest review Jason submitted that garnered him the prize.
Platform: Samsung Galaxy Note II, Android 4.1.1 The Good: Nice graphics, intuitive, easy to navigate, good audio, able to record and submit an audition, access to all vital areas of the site. The Bad: Bloaty (14 Mb on my device). While this updated version is an improvement (thanks for removing the ability to access my contacts) I did get a few freezes and had to restart. The app was painfully slow retrieving data on several queries (i.e. Feedback, Jobs, Talent Lists) and the heavy graphics database takes a while to load. I would also like to be able to search for talent by name. Overall this app looks and sounds great; and does a good job of giving the user a pleasing experience. Like any newbie there are some bugs to resolve, but this app is off to a GREAT start, and - based on the developers excellent customer response - I would not be surprised if this becomes an award winner.
Thank you, Jason, for everything you have done to help us make the Voices.com Android app even better. Thank you also to everyone who took time to share their thoughts with us. Every bit of feedback helps.
