Common Resolutions Voice Artists Make

Ever wondered what the most common New Year's resolutions are made by voice actors?

While not all may be listed here, I happened to collect a number of resolutions before the clock struck midnight on January 1st, 2014. Many of them, not surprisingly, had to do with getting more work, some with the specific goal of getting an agent.

Resolution: Getting an Agent

Whether you have an agent already or are on the hunt for one, it seems as though one can never have enough irons in the fire. If you are in hot pursuit of agency representation, here are some ideas that may help you achieve your goal.

Take a listen to these podcasts to determine whether or not you need an agent and then how to present yourself to one when you're ready:

Resolution: Becoming a Better Voice Actor

Who doesn't want to improve upon their craft? Below you'll find a sampling of podcasts that will help guide you in that direction.

Resolution: Booking More Auditions

Want to see more of your auditions turn into bookings? This is a major area talent focus on. Listen to these podcasts to get an idea of how selection plays into the auditioning process, both on the talent side and the client side.

Resolution: Adding New Clients & Getting More Work

When you've got a business going, finding new clients and getting more work from existing clients is important. Ideally you'll be spending more time working for clients than auditioning. Find out how you can get more work by being strategic and on point.

What's On Your List?

If you made a resolution for 2014, comment and let me know! I'd love to hear what it is and help if I can.

Take care,
Stephanie

    Stephanie,

Thanks for helping get 2014 off to a great start. This compilation is loaded with enough material - from some of the best in the business - to keep me busy for months; it could actually be considered a course.

    Sincerely,
    Jason Culver

While my holiday season is when I typically sit down and start planning for the new year, certain road blocks popped up this year and I've entered 2014. How nice of you to post a blog creating my resolutions for me! I'll be reading/listening further.
