A family favourite since the 1940's, this story captures the whimsical, yet sometimes nonsensical, logic of childhood. The story follows a son as he tells a tale of how when his father was a boy, he ran away with an alley cat to rescue a flying baby dragon who was being exploited on a faraway island. Using two dozen pink lollipops, rubber bands, chewing gum, and a fine-toothed comb, he disarms a fierce beasts and sets the dragon free.

The Emperor's Egg
By: Martin Jenkins
Read By: Matt Glover
A great choice for Father's Day. The Emperor's Egg is an easy to follow and entertaining non-fiction story about the life of Emperor Penguins. It focuses on how the Papa Penguin cares for the precious egg and chick while the Mama must leave to swim and eat. It is a lovely story that depicts the vital role Dad's play in the lives of their children.
It was only after pouring through volumes and volumes of children's books that these audio versions came to the surface.
I was surprised by how few audiobooks there were designed specifically for Dad's and their children. It would be nice to see titles such as My Daddy and Me, Why I love My Daddy, and The Daddy Book in future audio releases for Dad's with young children.
What others would you like to see released in an audio version?
To all the Dads out there, Happy Father's Day!
