File Management

Do you work on projects at Voices that have multiple file uploads? Wish you could just drag and drop a file instead of searching to attach it? Maybe file size has presented as a problem for you. Well, guess what? Good news is on its way!

Whatever your challenge file management wise delivering completed work through Voices, we’ve just developed new functionality to help ease your pain.
Find out more in today’s Vox Daily.

File Management at Voices – Some Updates

We’re happy to share that we’ve made some improvements to way you manage the files you have on your various jobs at Voices. As of now, when you click into a particular job that you’ve been awarded, and go to the “Files” tab, you will that it looks a bit different – here’s an example:

The look however, isn’t the only thing that we’ve improved. New features include:

File Drag and Drop

In addition to clicking the button to Add Files to a particular job, you are now able to drag and drop them as well.

Upload Multiple Files at Once

You’re no longer limited to uploading a single file at a time – you can now upload as many files as you’d like at once. Add files using the button or drag and drop, edit the list if you’d like to remove any, and then simply click “Start Upload” to upload them all at once.

Upload Larger Files

You are now able to upload files as large as 1GB. Yes, 1GB. That’s huge!

Audio File Preview

Need to double-check an audio file before uploading? Or preview before downloading? Audio files in a number of common formats can now be previewed. This in itself is pretty cool!

Making Your Life Easier Yet?

We hope that these updates help make Voices easier and more efficient for you to manage! Be sure to let me know what you think in a comment on this post.
Looking forward to hearing from you!

Best wishes,
Stephanie

I have enjoyed most of the upgrades…love the blue header as opposed to the black. I only really wish for 2 more things…1. an easier way to download scripts (or a way to send the script to an iPad…no paper!), and some form of rating for us artists on Voices.com jobs…some kind of feedback (1 – 5, stars, whatever) so we have a way to improve. Other than a thumbs up or receiving the job…we have no way of knowing if what we are doing is good, bad or why are you wasting my time? terrible! How about you offer us the chance to have 1 audition per week critiqued? or 1 every two weeks…where we pick what we feel was our best effort and you tell us what you think. Some way to feel you can improve at your craft. In theatre you have an audience, a critic, the director…al telling you if you did good or bad. But now we are just crying in the wilds.

    Hi Tom,
Thank you for your comment! I hope you’re well today. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and ideas on the recent updates. I will be sure to share your idea with our IT department regarding scripts.
I hear you on feedback. There is a way for clients to be giving talent feedback on aspects of their auditions so far as technical elements go and how the script was read. Has anyone reading this comment received feedback from a client in this way before on an audition?
    Take care,
    Stephanie

Out of all the jobs I’ve booked, I’ve only had a couple clients message me and ask for a re-read of their audition copy. One was because they wanted to hear a slightly different direction and the other client had noticed some background noise that he wanted to be sure wouldn’t be in the finished audio when I was booked. So yes, there is a way for clients to chat with you about your auditions but I don’t think a lot of them have time to give specific feedback unless they want you for the job.

Well done with the recent changes!
On a more general note, it does seem to me that the 5 stars rating system is no longer fit for purpose. Just about everybody gives just about everybody a 5 star rating these days, and it’s become devalued and meaningless.
A possible alternative – replace the 5 stars by the talent’s name with the number of likes and the number of favourites, e.g. L120, F 72
People will quickly get used to this, and it will be far more informative.
    Best,
    Tony

    Hi Tony,
Thank you for commenting! Thank you also for sharing your ideas.
The star ratings (feedback) can only be given by a client if a talent is hired and the transaction has occurred via Voices.com. The other data is a bit more subjective as you can Like an audition of save someone to your Favorites regardless of if you actually work with them. For that reason, we’d keep the star rating and review system. Maybe down the road there is room for other factors. I’ll be sure to pass your thoughts along to our IT department 🙂
    Take care,
    Stephanie

Good! That makes for speed and productivity. Haven’t had an opportunity yet to see if there’s an upload progress bar for each file. Would be helpful if feasible.

    Hi Stephanie,
I just joined Voices.com this past Wednesday July 12th. After a long journey as a successful voice over artist, I changed careers in 1998 and until recently worked as a Social Worker in the Healthcare industry. This past year my company outsourced my department and my heart pulled me back to the creative world.
Your site was recommended to me by a fellow voice over talent and I am thrilled he did so. This is a wonderful site!! I have a great deal of learning to do as far as the logistics but have received helpful direction from Jeremy Wright. After looking at all the scripts I was sent, I went into a studio and recorded 8 spots which I placed on the site on July 13th. Today I downloaded Audacity and tomorrow I will buy a mike. Yikes I am scared to try recording everything myself but am sure I will do fine with trial and error. I watched a great Webinar tonight, which I found through your facebook page. It was presented by J. Michael Collins and very informative. I have no reaction yet on anything I posted but I understand it will take time for me to learn how this works.
Thank you so much for these wonderful opportunities. I am excited and happy for a new beginning.
    Take care,
    Barbara Soehner
